Last week of school! This school year has been great, but good things sometimes end! We have had some really good times! Students had their behavior reward to the local movie theatre on Monday so many missed PE. For the ones that were able to come we practciced our tug of war strategy and played on the blow up inflatables as a fun last day of PE celebration. Wednesday- Field Day at the HS (9am-11am) for anyone that would like to stop out! Thursday and Friday are half days so I wont see many kiddos! :(

It was a short week, this week with Memorial Day! With the end of the year field trips we missed quite a few classes this week, but were able to get some good exercise in! We played "Flag Tag" which primarily focused on the students cardiovascular endurance and their chasing/fleeing/dodging skills. In flag tag, each color red, blue, yellow, and green had a home base. When the music started they all ran out of their house and tried to pull each others tails (football flags). Once both flags were gone you would return to your house and wait for another student to donate one of the theirs if they would. I loved how the classes learned how to huddle up and strategize in order to have the most people left with flags when I blew the whistle. It took a few tries but they soon realized if they shared their flags they were more likely to win. With the Thursday group, we played Dodge the Pins. I am not a believer in teaching dodgeball but they played it a lot last year and they have been begging. I figured since this was the last time I would see some of them this year I would let them play on the last day! Dodge the pins is a better alternative becasue you can with the game by knocking down the two pins. It gives students an oppurtunity to have a goal and be successful if they don't like to throw the ball at others! |
