Kdg.-3rd GradersKindergarten and First Graders started off their week playing the game, "Grand Slam." Grand Slam is a face paced baseball game where there are 4 teams, 4 bats, and 4 tees. The student hits the ball from the tee, drops the bat, tags the bucket and the next person goes. Groups played for 3 minutes and we decided whose room was the dirtiest (most baseballs!). With the littler grades they get plenty of striking practice, without the worry of students getting hit with the bat! 2nd and 3rd graders played an actual Tball game, and began to learn the rules of baseball. (Whew, are there a lot!) The second half of the week was dedicated to our Easter Stations. We had six stations this year. 1. Bunny Hop Sack Race 2. Easter Egg Spoon Relay Race 3. Toss and Catch Egg Drop 4. Rock Wall 5. Eggsercize Eggs (Don't get a crack and lose all of your eggs!) (K-1) Did a throwing projector activity 6. Search for the Golden Egg Memory Game 4th and 5th GradersUpper elementary began Archery this week! All student participating in this unit need to receive 100% on their safety test to move on to use the actual bows and arrows. Students are able to take the test as many times as they want after the first time, I am available before school, or during recesses for testing. Alternative book work packets going over the same skills are available for student who do not pass the quiz! Day One--> We worked on determining our dominant eye, building a string bow, and learning the 11 steps. (Plus taking our safety test!) Day Two--> We reviewed boundaries/safety rules, review whistle commands, parts of the arrow, and began shooting using the plain white side of the target. This helps the students to be more successful the first few times, we will be turning it around and learning to score next week!
