Kindergarten-2nd GradersKindergarten and First Graders missed both Monday and Tuesday to practice their rehersal for the musical Tuesday. I received them all on Wednesday and we began our bowling/rolling unit. We played "Roll and score", and talked about how a roll is not airborne or "bouncy". We learned the correct grip for the bowling ball and made sure to step opposite! The last half of the week went back to normal and we participated in "Pin Shuffle." Students were working on rolling their ball in a straight pathway to try and knock over their pin. Each time their pin was knocked over their partner moved it one cone closer to them! It was back and forth, until one person got the pin all the way to them! 3rd-5th GradersWe kicked off our bowling/rolling unit with a personal favorite of mine called, "Pin Down." Pin Down is simpe game where students have 1 hula hoop and 1 pin and students try rolling and knocking over each others pins while guarding theirs from all angles. Lots of cardio, I was sweating just helping balls in play. I had a student tell me that this is their favorite game they ever played, and if they win an extra PE time, this is what they are doing! The second activity of the week was, "Aerobic Bowling." We are focusing on three skills this year (besides grip) (1) Approach (2) Swing and (3) Delievery. We talked about scoring this week and how to correctly write it in for next week!
