We started off this week playing, "four goal scooter hockey." We loved this game and are so thankful for the donation of the scooter hockey sticks by the Kiwanis. We played with four goals and kept track by taking a cone and moving it to your goal after a score. It is a quick and easy way to keep score. Lower elementary began learning positions (goalie, watchdogs and scorers) to help us begin to understand defense, offense, etc. I'm not sure what it is but being called a watchdog, really helps them understand they are helping protect the goal! In order, to make up for the dbl classes and lack of space, towards the end of the week we played "Space Invaders" (k-2) and "Super Kickball" (3-5). Space Invaders is a game that predominantly works on your overhand throwing ability and accuracy to hit a target. We haven't worked to much with overhand throw and so many of them wanted to keep throwing it underhand! Super Kickball reminds me of a combo of sharks and minnows and kickball. There is a kicking team, and a fielding team, instead of running bases students run the length of the basketball court. This game has three outs before your team switches and the same way to get out as traditional kickball. One point it scored on each successful pass as long as you do not have three outs!
