All of the grades began our striking with short handled implement activities. We played "Partner Catch." This unit will really test our hand eye coordination. The grades all shared the same activity because it was tailored for each students individual skill level. We chose a partner who we could work well with and stood across from each other. Once we made a certain number of catches (varied by grades) or were able to rally back and forth and show the teacher students could move on. This week we predominantly worked on our underhand serve, and mixed in forehand and backhand if we needed to keep our rally going. Objects we used this year were: koosh balls, beanbags, fluff balls, foam tennis balls, actual tennis balls, and even ping pong balls. This activity was such a hit they all begged to do it a second day so they could be able to try and get to the end of the challenge!
