Kdg.-1st GradersLower elementary kicked the week off with their "Stick Races." Stick races at Emerald Elementary are 6 kids per group run for 2:30, and collect as many popsicle sticks as they can by running laps. They are allowed to cheer, dance, and encourage their teammates. You can probably guess it get's pretty exciting in there! The last half of the week we continued to build our cardiovascular endurance by participating in "Frogger/Crossy Road" as kids these days know it. They start at one side of the gym and try to make it past the taggers on the scooters, while going through various obstacles. It is an absolute blast, and the kids always get excited when they see it set up! 3rd-5th GradersThis week started off with the PACER TEST!!! The kids either love this or hate this! It is a multi stage aerobic capacity test that gets faster the longer they run! We have had some impressive scores...keep your eyes peeled for end of the year FitnessGram Record. As always, if they score in the top portion of the Healthy Fitness Zone they receive a gold certificate, and of course bragging rights!
The last half of the week we missed the 5th Graders as they were away enjoying their clear lake field trip (jealous PE teacher over here!), but I know they had so much fun! The 3rd and 4th graders started their curl up tests, and played Frogger/Crossy Road.
