We have played a variety of games, with Secret Agent Tag being one of my personal favorites, and always a class favorite, Sharks and Minnows. 3rd-5th GradersThis week we have been predominantly focusing on increasing our cardiovascular endurance. We have participated in a variety of different tag games, which has had them leaving sweaty each day! This is a great change up for them after all of our units on manipulative skills. We have been working on starting out end of the year FitnessGram Testing. At Emerald Elementary, we have the students test in the beginning of the year, and again at the end of the year to better assess their level of fitness as they get older. We do the Pacer test (cardiovascular), sit and reach (flexibility), push-up and curl-up tests (muscular strength and endurance). Our goal is to make sure that we are falling within the Healthy Fitness Zones of (HFZ) that the tests set forth. Ask your son/daughter how they have been doing! This week we did the sit and reach and the push-up portions! Next week, will be both the PACER and the sit-up test.
