Kdg.- 2nd GradersThis week is a short week on top of the Kindergarten and First Graders having musical preparations! This week we continued working on our hand dribble playing the game "Dribbling Dragon Tails". At first we just played the game running without any basketballs. We used the juggling scarves, and if your flag was pulled we chose a different exercise to do each round. After we got the hand of the game, we played it dribbling. It really helped us to think with the end in mind, and move in a defensive manner. 3rd-5th GradersThis week we practiced a basketball cross curricular activity. The 3rd-5th graders played basketball scrabble. They were each divided up into teams, and each team had two basketballs. They would dribble to the basketball, and use the BEEF format to shoot the ball. If the ball went in they were allowed to go to the middle of the gym and pick up a scrabble letter. The teammates waiting in like worked cooperatively to try and come up with a higher scoring word that the other teams. This game was an absolute blast, and I have to say I was so impressed with the words so of these kids were able to come up with! 29 and 30 point words are quite an accomplishment in PE. They did awesome and were working up quite a sweat trying to get more and more tiles to try and spell bigger words.
