Kdg.-2nd GradersIn celebration of Halloween, we played Zombie Tag on Monday and listened to Halloween Music. Two students were chosen as the "zombies" and they each had a hula hoop around their foot. They had to try and tag their classmates and turn them into zombies as well! It was a really fun game, and with the hoop around your foot they really resemble the way a zombie would move! We started our volleyball skills this week as well. Students in the lower grades started out with balloons this week. We learned what a "set" (diamond, fingertips, two hands, overhead) was and practiced hitting the balloon back and forth over the volleyball nets. We really worked on our volleying skills and our abilities to keep hitting it back and forth without catching it each time! 3rd-5th GradersWith all of the Halloween Festivities planned for the afternoon on Monday, the older kids were away from PE. We started working on our volleyball skills this week. Specifically, we talked about overhead pass / setting and how they should be using their "diamonds and fingertips", forearm pass / bumping (pancake, pancake, sausage, sausage, or fist bump wrap) and underhand serve. I think many of them were surprised just how much work goes into volleyball, and that it is in fact more difficult than they first thought!
