Kdg.-2nd GradersWe had an eventful week in lower elementary this week. We continued working on our personal / social skills of teamwork, following directions, sharing equipment and taking turns. We used the parachute on their first day of PE this week. We played a variety of games such as cat and mouse, duck duck goose with the parachute, climb the mountain, popcorn and color shift. It was a blast, and we really learned how important it is that we work together. The second half of the week was equally exciting. Students were able to construct hula huts with increasing levels. Level one started easy with them simply building it and racing to the otherside of the gym. We climbed through, went through blindfolded and more. The most challenging task I gave was for the student to use two jump ropes and try and build and transport the hut across the gym. 3rd-5th GradersUpper elementary finished up their cooperative skills unit this week and I am confident in our abilities to comfortably work as a team. To start the week off we played bean bag blitz. It was great game that had similarities to capture the flag. We ended the week participating in hula hut throwdown. This game requires students to designate jobs within their teams, staying in their "position" and to contribute to the team.
