Kdg.- 2nd GradersWe started this week off playing a favorite, "Hungry, Hungry, Hippos!" We focused on different ways to use the scooter so that it was working different muscles. Also, scooter safety was reviewed for the year. The last half of the week, we played "Critter Dash." Students were given football flagged jerseys and had to avoid the taggers who would pull their tails. If their tail was pulled they were no longer able to run down the the food pile and stock food for the long winter to share with the other critters. Whichever team scored the most fruits/veggie beanbags that round were able to be the taggers next! It was a really good cardiovascular endurance building activity! 3rd-5th GradersThis was a great week in PE. Almost every grade came in and saw the footballs in the middle of the gym and got excited. Students began this week with an activity called "End Zone Football." End zone football was perfect because you were able to try all kinds of positions. You could be a roller, trying to tag another persons foot to send them to jail. You could be a "Quaterback" and have to overhand throw the football accurately to a teammate in jail. Which in turn made students "wide receivers" when they tried nabbing the balls while in jail. Or, you could be a defensive player, and trying to block or perform interceptions for your team, to try and send the Quaterback to jail! The last half of the week, we played "Air Force Football" which is a personal favorite of mine. It is an incredible workout and combines both football and ultimate frisbee concepts. The kiddos really seemed to enjoy this game too. I am so impressed with the effort I saw this week!
