Kdg.-2nd GradeA good portion of this week was dedicated to practice our songs, and actions for our Christmas Musical for the K-1st graders. We finished up our dribbling unit this week, and they were allowed one combo day of dribbling and BEEF Shooting...I was so impressed! They did awesome. We started out this week playing, "Pac Man Dribble". The kids were to follow the lines of the gym and two students were the pac man people who were trying to tag them. Once a student was tagged they would sit down, like in tradtional pac man there was no passing and they had to go back the other way! They did this all while dribbling a basketball (we started out without of course)! This game was great because it gave us some valuable pathway practice, in additon to our dribbling. We played "Popcorn Basketball" towards the end of the week. The students were divided into 6 different teams and they were to take turns dribbling the ball down and getting in the BEEF form to take one shot. If they made it, they went to the middle and picked up a yellow yarn ball. If they didn't make it, they dribbled back and used a bounce or chest pass to exchange the ball with their partner. The winning team was able to give exercises to me and the rest of the class to do! 3rd-5th GradersThe older kids concluded their basketball unit this week as well. We played a version of sideline basketball in the beggining of the week. Towards the last half of the week, we continued our sideline games (if it is a big class like the 4th grade-tournament style) or we chose our favorite basketball activity from the last two weeks and did that. I was so suprised by how many classes chose to play the scrabble basketball as their favorite game. The grade champions are pictured below. Fitness CalendarsI am thrilled with the amound of Fitness Calendars that keep getting returned! Nice job Emerald Elementary, and thank you parents for your support! If you need another copy they can be downloaded via the button below! This coming Tuesday (December 6th) will be the last day to turn them in if you would like to be entered into the drawing for a brand new bike helmet, or to choose the PE activity for the day! Good Luck! Christmas MusicalThe musical was a hit, it was packed in there! The kids did an amazing job, and they all looked so adorable! Jill Connin was kind enough to share her video of the performance if you missed it or were unable to video it. The link is unlisted so you cannot search for it, it is only available through this link: Kindergarten ArtWe have been working on our reindeer watercolor paintings this week. The students drew the reindeer on their own, traced it with permenant marker, added watercolors and glitter. They look FABULOUS and are up in the Art Hallway for your viewing pleasure! The students that finished early were able to make scuptures out of clay! Check out some of our pictures below!
